The Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan took two prestigious awards at the recent APPI/CIP National Conference in Calgary June 18 & 19, 2017.

Captured in a concise video summary, the new regional Growth Plan was presented an Award of Planning Merit in the Comprehensive and Policy Design Category June 18 by the members of the Alberta Professional Planners Institute, which each year recognizes  exemplary work within the planning profession.

Awards acknowledge meritorious plans and projects, undertaken in whole or in part by members of the Institute, that significantly contribute to the livability of communities in Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

On June 19, the Plan received similar recognition and another Award of Merit from the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Board Chair Nolan Crouse tweeted his thanks to all 24 municipalities of the Board for this honour.

Accepting the awards on behalf of the CRB's Growth Plan Update Task Force were CEO Malcolm Bruce and Project Manager Sharon Shuya, along with key representatives of the Growth Plan project consultants from ISL Engineering and Urban Strategies Inc.
