A delegation of CRB members brought a comprehensive overview of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Growth Plan (EMRGP) to members of Cabinet February 8, emphasizing the mutual benefits of collaborative planning in the Region anticipated over the next 30 years.

Speaking for the Board, Vice Chair Mayor Camille Berube provided background on the CRB as context before introducing Growth Plan Update Task Force Vice Chair Mayor Lisa Holmes, who made the full presentation.

"The presentation was well received, and we had a very engaging conversation afterwords," said Berube. "Overall the Ministers were supportive and impressed with the comprehensiveness of the Growth Plan and the its compatibility with the government's vision."

See the One page backgrounders for each Ministry: Municipal Affairs Minister Shaye Anderson hosted the meeting, which included Minister Deron Bilous (Economic Development and Trade), Minister Oneil Carlier (Agriculture and Forestry), Minister Lori Sigurdson (Seniors and Housing) and Minister Shannon Phillips (Environment and Parks). Three invitees - Minister Joe Ceci (Treasury Board and Finance), Minister Kathleen Ganley (Justice and Solicitor General) and Minister Brian Mason (Infrastructure and Transportation) - and Minister Margaret McCuaig-Boyd (Energy) were unable to attend.

Also attending for CRB were Mayor Don Iveson, Vice Chair of the Advocacy and Monitoring Committee, Councillor Wes Brodhead, Chair of the Transit Committee, and Councillor Dwight Ganske, Chair of the Housing Committee.

Follow up letters have been sent to invitees and notifications of the meeting and its messages have been sent to the rest of the cabinet and all regional MLAs.

The Board has urged the Province for swift approval of the EMRGP. The Plan must be approved by Cabinet. No date has been set.
